Chocolate Ombre Butter Cake
Makes one 8 inch square cake
Ingredients
Preheat oven to 350F or 180C
Cocoa batter
30g cocoa powder
50g sugar
50g boiling water
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp baking soda
For Batter
220g cake/plain flour
2 tsp baking powder
250g /2 stick unsalted softened Butter
170g sugar
4 large room temperature eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla
75ml milk
mix 1/4 batter to cocoa batter for first dark chocolate layer.
save 1tbsp cocoa batter
Add the other 1/4 batter to rest of the cocoa batter then pipe it to the top of the dark chocolate layer.
then rest of the batter pipe over the second cocoa layer. I am using the ziploc bag to make it easy for layers. you can also spoon the batter if you would like.
Bake for 50 min/1 hour until skewer comes clean. cool the cake to room temperature.
