Ethiopia's Council of Ministers has declared a state of emergency in the country handing power to the military for three months until the currently recessed parliament can convene to approve Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn's resignation. Members of the opposition are pointing to a need to reshape the political system to better represent the people of Ethiopia.
