I've really been enjoying these Squier 40th Anniversary basses, but I wanted to give the Precision Bass a sonic boost, in the form of a DiMarzio Split P noiseless pickup. (Yes, the split coil pickup is naturally humbucking, but the DiMarzio is still an upgrade.)
And, since I can't solder — I mean, I _really_ can't solder — I went with DiMarzio's prewired pickguard with solderless connectors. This way I was able to upgrade the potentiometers as well as the pickups themselves, _and_ I didn't need to worry about mucking everything up.
Here you'll see a timelapse of me installing the pickups, along with a tone shootout, comparing the stock Squier pickups to the new DiMarzios.
