Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura have a long history of playing some incredible chess games against each other, and in today's video we're looking at a game that easily ranks as one of their best of all time! Seriously, this game was absolutely incredible - it features a crazy knight sacrifice on move 8 that you just have to see to believe!
In the game Hikaru Nakamura opens 1.e4 and heads straight for the Ruy Lopez Opening. In response Magnus Carlsen plays the Berlin Defense, rather than his more typical Marshall Attack. From there Hikaru heads for the exchange variation where you go 4.d3 and 5.Bxc6, which leads to a very interesting and imbalanced position where White has the better pawn structure but Black has the bishop pair and plenty of time to regroup his pieces. However, the game obviously changed again when Magnus sacrificed his knight on move 8 to get a crazy attack going against Hikaru's king! Make sure to watch till the end of the video to see the crazy conclusion to this unbelievable game!
