I always had an interest in astronomy starting back in elementary school – mainly the planets, constellations, and later on, the concept of a light year. Sagittarius was perhaps the first constellation I found on my own in either 5th or 6th grade. But it wasn’t until February of 2015 when I downloaded an app onto a new laptop because I was wondering which planets and constellations were out. Through this, I had acquired a plethora of knowledge on the current visible planets and constellations; I got to share a few of them with the Royal Rangers’ Ranger Kids (K-2nd grade) at my outpost. Consequently, this had me ask the senior commander if I could teach the astronomy merit to the Discovery Rangers (3rd-5th grade) in the Fall of 2015, which I got to do. (And again in Spring of 2019).
I’ve since spotted tons of now-familiar stars, such as Rigel, Pollux, Castor, Aldebaran, Capella, Polaris, Regulus, Spica, Arcturus, (et cetera), and constellations from the zodiac, as well as Leo Major, Boötes, Draco, Hydra, Delphinus, Sagitta, Pegasus, Perseus, Cassiopeia, Cepheus, (etc). I have found the Summer Triangle, composed of the three stars, Vega of Lyre the harp, Altair of Aquila the eagle, and Deneb of Cygnus the swan, as well as the Winter Triangle: Betelgeuse of Orion the Hunter, Procyon of Canis Minor the Little Dog, and Sirius (the brightest star in the night sky, 8.6 light years away) of Canis Major the Big Dog.

From 2014-15, I had viewed each of the four blood moons and took pictures.
On 6/8/15, I purchased a Celestron PowerSeeker 60AZ telescope; through it, I since spotted the Andromeda Galaxy (which I first got to spot with my binoculars after midnight on the morning of 9/6/15), the Orion Nebula, and the planets Venus, Jupiter, Saturn (which I could view all night long), etc. I also viewed the Venus-Jupiter Conjunction on 6/30/15.
This inspired to take Astronomy 100 at Orange Coast College in my 7th semester – Fall-2015. Concurrently, I took Chemistry 130, its lab, and Math 120 (Trigonometry). Altogether, it was a huge semester filled with ceaseless reading, work, and exams, but it was FUN and I learned a ton of useful information/
We learned about the Universe and everything within beyond earth's atmosphere. We learn about the preliminary scale model of the universe and our Cosmic Address: Earth, Solar System, Milky Way Galaxy, Local Group/Cluster, Local Supercluster...and there and a MYRIAD of Superclusters!
We learn about the history of astronomy back when people in the days of Ptolomy believed in a geocentric model to the Copernican heliocentric model; Tycho and Kepler including Kepler's 3 Laws of Planetary Motion; and Galileo. Next, we learn about Isaac Newton's Laws of Gravity; we learn about motion - speed, velocity, and acceleration. Also, light and the Electromagnetic Spectrum, as well as the precession of earth and the expansion of the universe.
We later turned our attention to exoplanets and the methods of finding them (including the transit, Doppler, and astrometric methods). We learned Einstein’s special (1905) and general (1915) theories of relativity, E=mc^2, and that gravity is defined as the curvature of the fabric of the fourth-dimensional spacetime.
We learned about the Hertzsprung-Russel (H-R) Diagram, main-sequence stars, spectral types of stars from O to M (our sun being G), giants, supergiants, red dwarves, white dwarves, neutron stars, planetary nebula, blackholes from higher mass stars, as well as nuclear fusion of stars depending on its mass.
Needless to say, I flew through the final, which was astronomically easy on Wed. 12/9/15 (I answered 55 questions in a half hour and only missed one).
