"It pains me to see what is currently happening in Iran," said UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk at the 35th special session of the Human Rights Council, which was held on 24 November 2022 to take action on the deteriorating situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially with respect to women and children.

"We are in a full-fledged human rights crisis," he said. "The violence must end."
