Karpooravalli Rasam(karpuravalli), Omavalli Rasam is made with Homegrown Ajwain leaves. No dal or No Rasam powder is used very simple rasam, made with freshly ground rasam mix. Karpuravalli(Ajwain) is good for cough, cold, digestion, and immunity booster. After continuously eating festival food we need something like this.
Ajwain leaves are equally good as pepper, There is a saying in Tamil,'10 மிளகு இருந்தால் பகைவன் வீட்டிலும் உண்ணலாம்', means If you take pepper you can eat anything, pepper is that much effective. Along with pepper, if you take Ajwain it is too good for your health.
How to make Karpooravalli Rasam,
Soak a gooseberry-sized Tamarind for 15 mins and then extract the juice and keep it aside.
Take 5 karpooravalli leaves, wash them and add them to a mixer jar, add 1.5 tsp cumin seeds, 1 tsp pepper, 3 to 5 garlic cloves(optional), and Tulsi(optional) grind them to a coarse paste without adding water.
Heat a saucepan add 3 chopped tomatoes, curry leaves, ground paste, and 1 cup water.
Let it boil for a few mins and then add the tamarind extract, boil till it foams(should not boil the rasam for long after adding tamarind extract). Add coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
Now tempering, Heat a pan and add 1 tsp ghee, 1 tsp mustard seeds, hing, and once the mustard seeds splutter add the tadka over the rasam mix well. That’s Donne!
Flavorful and healthy Karpooravalli rasam is ready to serve.

Tips and Notes:
Let the tomatoes boil well or Even you can grind the tomatoes and add them then only the rasam will be tastier.
Adjust the pepper & ajwain leaves according to your spice level.
Always make the rasam paste freshly and make rasam, stored bought rasam powder will not taste as good as fresh ones.
Always serve hot piping rasam.
