The bateliers in the Gorges du Tarn in Lozere, southern France have been tirelessly and cheerfuly ferrying tourists down-river for years.

As part of the fete in La Malene July 2009, the bateliers staged a reconstruction of how the boats operated back in the 1940s, including bringing the boats back up-river using a horse.

I filmed the event and have edited it here, using footage of contemporary boats and methods to provide a contrast.
