GeoArc has brought together an international team of experts to partner with the Petzl Foundation, the International Volcano Monitoring Fund, Simon Fraser University, Alphasense, The Government of Nicaragua, INETER (Instituto Nicaragüense de Estudios Territoriales) and the Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria, to lead a scientific expedition on Masaya Volcano. We are conducting several experiments to better understand the threat to the environment and human safety posed by Masaya. To do these experiments we are setting up custom rigging systems to sample and monitor Masaya’s convecting lava lake.
