Fantastic improvisation performed by the great Daniel Roth at St. Sulpice this morning, June 26th at the beginning of Mass. I trimmed this recording to begin at 2 minutes and 20 seconds into his performance. From here begins an incredible crescendo. The organ begins to become thunderous near 2minutes 25 seconds of this clip. He was obviously inspired by the first piece he played BEFORE Mass started - i.e., The Bach Prelude and Fugue in C minor, which I will upload separately. You can feel, in Roth's improvisation, both Bach as well as Marcel Dupre (The great organist at St. Sulpice between 1937 and 1971). Brought me to tears hearing this instrument live for the first time in my life today. I hope you enjoy and appreciate this masterpiece too.
