The government invested only 29.5 billion shillings in the water sector in the last financial year, which is just 10% of the sector's annual financing needs. For this reason, the country is falling behind in providing water and sanitation services to every Kenyan.

This is according to the Annual Water Sector Review Report, prepared by the Ministry of Water and Irrigation.
