Day 8 and the final day and 8 day part of My Railway Birthday Holiday.
We start in the station in very poor weather conditions with rain.
The first loco we see is Stuart Whitter's recently returned to traffic 9f 92214 Cock O The North now painted lined out livery which you never seen on the 9f's when they were in black livery apart from 92220 Evening star when she was painted in Brunswick green so this was a very unique site for a loco.
As the morning went on we see the 9f and the lamberton tank top an tailing the first train of the day from Grosmont to Pickering.
Later on Disaster strikes for the railway again within 48 hours as the american loco 6046 from The Churnet Valley Railway and was the star attraction for the Wartime gala had broken down while working the first train out of Pickering of the day causing major disruption.
Most of my day was done at Grosmont and for a few hours i was allowed to stay in the cab of 45428 for just over 2 hours as 60007 departed with the 2nd train of the day from Grosmont.
During the time at grosmont there was a dance demonstration on platforms 3 and 4 as part of the wartime theme done by some of the rennactors which was a good show for the spectators as they were waiting for there trains.
Soon it was time to do my final ever trip behind steam before going and that's a top an tail trip from Grosmont to Whitby and back with 61002 and 45428 doing the honors.
When I returned to Grosmont we stay at the station then onto the sheds to finish off as we see train coming in an out of the tunnel and the locos turning in for the night.
First we see the arrival of 92214 turning in for the night in the fading light as we see the loco being check over by his crew and shows what it looked like back in the days of steam.
Next 45428 Eric Treacy arrived but not turning for the night as the loco was rostered in to do the evening dining train as the loco went past i was confronted by another of the mainline photographers arch enemies JOBSWORTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all because of this time my camera which has a red light on it which i could not do anything about it to turn it off but the good news is he apologized for his swearing actions and it was forgotten.
Anyway back to the action as we see 45428 being serviced ready to head back to the station to hook onto the dining train.
Finally 61002 Impala aka 61264 arrived on shed to be disposed off for the night.
As she was being checked over by her crew we see Eric Treacy passing by with the diner.
To finish off we see 61002 back down into the sheds alongside the 9F and the ventilators closed to finish off my final day of my holiday.
To sum up then for the hole NYMR holiday it was the best I had in years I was lucky to have 2 events with in the time of my stay the LNER weekend which was a special add on and the popular wartime event I would recommend to anyone watching this to come to the NYMR for the war weekend it was brilliant.
