Liberal sports blog Deadspin has fired its entire staff after being sold by its parent company, according to Fox News.
CEO of the parent company, G/O Media, Jim Spanfeller, informed the Deadspin staff on Monday with very little notice.
Spanfeller released a memo, obtained by Daily Beast, to employees and explained a European firm bought Deadspin.
“Deadspin’s new owners have made the decision to not carry over any of the site’s existing staff and instead build a new team more in line with their editorial vision for the brand,” he wrote.
Deadspin faced backlash and apologised following an article it released in November 2023.
The article Deadspin released falsely accused young Kansas City Chiefs fan Holden Armenta of wearing “blackface."
It was revealed Armenta was of Native American heritage, with the boy's parents filing a lawsuit against the sports blog.
