ABOUT this TRACK
This was an improvised composition by myself and Catherine. A lament for those we have loved who have departed. I was reminded of a moment in Tolkien’s The Return of the king when Frodo has been captured and Sam fearing that he might be dead, goes into the enemies tower to save him, and all of a sudden, out of nowhere he recalls the song (an excerpt is below) and starts singing it so loudly that he almost gets discovered!
“Though here at journey's end I lie In darkness buried deep, Beyond all towers strong and high, Beyond all mountains steep, Above all shadows rides the Sun And Stars for ever dwell: I will not say the Day is done, Nor bid the Stars farewell”
I imagine Sam singing this one more time for his beloved friend as he watches Frodo fade over the horizon as he leaves Middle-earth to sail to the undying lands.
