Today we review something unusual for the channel. Although it lives in the realm of bbq’in. You ever get home want to start up ol’ reliable (your charcoal grill) and you find yourself struggling to light your charcoal? Yeah we know you have, we do it quite often ourselves. Fortunately we got a new toy to help with that problem.

We take a look at the LOOFT Lighter. This guy is supposed to ignite your coals in less than 60 seconds. There are two models that looft makes. We have the battery model which is the one showcased in the video today, and we have the wired plug in one. Depending on your taste and circumstances either could work. We chose the chord-less just because it’s very easy to store and is very mobile.

We test this lighter on a few different items and finish off with the real test of charcoal. First we try to cook some MARSHMALLOWS with this thing. Let’s say it did an alright job for the amount of charge we had, which wasn’t a lot. Then we tried to pop some popcorn, and that actually worked decent too. Again, the real test was for the charcoal. Let me tell you the thing worked really well and lit our coals fast. We had a heated bed of charcoal by the time we were ready to cook.

We do have to say this thing worked very well. We definitely will be using it to light our charcoal kamado from now on.
