The second edition of the District Governor Speaks coined as "DG Speaks" was held on Saturday, August 17, 2O24. The third edition is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024.

The Rotary International District Governor 9112, Rotarian Olufemi Adenekan expressed gratitude to Rotarians, individuals, and clubs for the tremendous support received so far in his 1 year and 46 days in office.
Courtesy visit to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday, August 1st, a delegation which he led. He highlighted that the visit was not just a courtesy call, but a purposeful one where they requested the Governor to allocate space on the Island for an additional secretariat and sought permission to display the "four-way test" in public places and meeting venues.
The District has 2192 members, along with 2600 Rotaractors and 73 clubs. It wants to revive the terminated Rotary Club of Tincan Island and the Rotary Club of Banana Island. Has a target to increase membership by 30 percent and intends to form 25 new clubs
It has a clear vision and they are committed to raising $1.2 million to the Rotary Foundation. He also urged all District Governors to strive for a $1 million contribution and acknowledged the generosity of those who have already donated. He encouraged Rotarians to reach out to friends, partners, and individuals with significant resources for support.

DG Speaks
The second edition of the District Governor Speaks, popularly known as "DG Speaks," took place on Saturday, August 17, 2O24. At the forum, Rotarian Olufemi Adenekan, thanked Rotarians, individuals, and clubs for their overwhelming support, emphasizing the significance of membership in Rotary International. He expressed appreciation for the ongoing inspiration and dedication to the Rotarian cause.
Speaking on his achievements so far in the office, DG Rotarian Olufemi Adenekan first mentioned his visit to the Lagos State Governor on Thursday, August 1st, where he, his spouse, Rotarian Tayo Adenekan, and his entourage were warmly received by the Governor and about 20 members of his cabinet.
About the Rotary International convention in Calgary, he outlined the minimum requirements for district support, emphasizing the importance of demonstrating commitment to the foundation by donating $100 to the Polio Plus fund or making an outright donation of $1000.
Regarding the Presidential Citation, he expressed "Clubs must have paid their District Dues and first semi-Rotary International dues, as well as their Rotary International dues, to be eligible for the award. Regarding the Multi Club Learning seminar, he stated "It is scheduled to commence in September, starting with zone 1. Efforts are being made to ensure a smooth and successful event. As for the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA), appreciation was expressed to those who sponsored the Pioneer RYLA and those who sent candidates to participate.
About club visits, he stated "Our sincere appreciation goes out to all the clubs that have accommodated my visits as per the initially provided calendar. It's important to note that the District Governor's visit is a symbiotic partnership where the District Governor offers guidance to the club in attaining Rotary's objectives and fully realizing the purpose of a Rotary club, aligning with both Rotary International and District goals.
Concerning Rotary Foundation donations, the DG noted that "It's essential to promptly remit donations instead of billing Rotarians for "Every Rotarian, Every Year (EREY) contributions without submitting them. Due to the fluctuating exchange rates, timely remittance is crucial. I have advised Rotarians to directly contribute to the Rotary Foundation through Zenith Bank, including their name, club, district, and the purpose of the donation.
He also talked about the September 4 Polio Seminar and the September 5 Basic Education and Literacy Seminar.
Rounding off the forum, he said "The Upcoming events include the Mauritius Institute from September 23rd to 28th. In 2025, there will be a Council of Legislation, and PDG Dehinde Shoga will be part of the council legislative. Additionally, there's the West Africa Project Fair, a hybrid event taking place in Ghana from October 29th to November 5th. The District Conference (Discon) will be held on May 25th and registration is currently open.The highly anticipated Rotary International convention is scheduled for June 21st to 25th. If you require district support in preparing your documents to increase the likelihood of a positive response from the Canadian embassy in Nigeria, please reach out. Note that all visa applications should be submitted between now and September to ensure processing is completed before the event. Lastly, the handover to DGE Lanre Adedoyin will take place on June 30th."
