Richard first began playing the piano around 10 years old, and by the early 1960s, he had bought the first of ultimately 22 electronic organs that he would own. Along with playing for his church, Richard played cocktail/lounge style organ for the next 40 years at a variety of locations in and near Vicksburg, MS: The Old Southern Tea Room, the Sportsman's Lounge, the Magnolia Motel, the Sprague Mississippi River paddle boat, Tuminello's, and Jacque's Cafe' at the Battlefield Inn.
