Today our video will be another of the 440 stainless steel variants...... 440 C.
Full Transcript: [ Ссылка ]
Type 440C in aerospace standards has three levels of internal cleanliness required depending on the specification.
The basic standard, AMS 5630 is for a normal air melt stainless steel. AMS 5880 adds a requirement for internal cleanliness and testing to bearing quality levels. Premium quality AMS 5618 requires a second Consumable Electrode Melt and even more stringent cleanliness limits.
440C has the UNS designation S44004. It is a martensitic alloy that can be heat treated to higher hardness and strength levels than type 440A due to its higher carbon content.
Typical applications require its increased strength and hardness and where the oxidation and corrosion resistance of this 17% chromium alloy is required.
