Is this the one they call a vampire facial? I'd always been curious the dermapen skin needling procedure, especially after seeing pictures of faces post-needling treatment, red, sore and...bloody. I assumed that it would be a painful procedure, and I also assumed that getting the dermapen treatment meant that I wouldn't be able to go out for at least 48 hours to let my skin heal. I finally got it done to check it out for myself. I wanted to know what it felt like, why people did it, what its effects are on skin which is already in good condition (i.e. is it worth getting it done if you already have good skin?)

The results amazed me. I had read that a lot of people get the derma pen treatment mainly to correct discolouration or to treat acne, so I did wonder why people who didn't have acne had this treatment. Ahhh...collagen production! The ladies at The BEauty Element at New FArm explained that as we age, our skin stops producing as much collagen as it did when we were 25 years or younger. This causes the skin to look less plump. Also, pores tend to become enlarged. This got me intrigued. The Derma pen treatment has become so popular, I was sure that it did more than the average facial.

You'll see in this video how the dermapen treatment takes place. You'll also notice that the serum that they applied on me has a skin coloured tint. I wondered whether this tint was actually going to create a colour in my skin tone. I also wondered if this was...okay! As it turns out, this serum is coloured mainly to distinguish the kind of serum it is (there are a number of serums which contain other ingredients, and the skin specialists determine which serum is best for you depending on the result that you want and your existing skin condition). Not only is it okay, but it's filled with nutrients for your skin to absorb, The rest of this video also includes the other steps leading up to and after the skin needling treatment. Please note that I had 2 services added in: extraction and a lymphatic massage, which OMG - what a revelation!! After the face and neck lift (the lymphatic massage), my face looked more...defined!! I didn't realise that i had any swelling in the face and neck but after the massage, I saw it IMMEDIATELY. This was an amazing experience. (it's been a week and a half since I had the dermapen treatment, and I haven't worn foundation at all! Just for a bit of context, I started wearing foundation more regularly about 2-3 weeks prior to the treatment. I kinda felt that my skin needed a bit more evening, and foundation seemed to do that, so I am AMAZED what happens after derma pen.) They recommend that you do 3-4 sessions to see a huge difference. i'm wondering whether a second skin needling session is in order for me to fully see it!
