Craving uruguayan asado grill? In today’s video, we’re taking you on a food adventure to Mercado del Puerto for Uruguayan asado. This is Montevideo’s Meat Market which features numerous restaurants under one roof, all of them specializing in BBQ, also known as asado!
This meat market is located by the port in front of Montevideo Bay, and it has been home to steakhouses and seafood restaurants since 1960. There are countless restaurants to choose from, and part of the experience is that you can watch your food be grilled right in front of you.
We ended up at Don Garcia and had an excellent meal. For lunch, we ordered chorizo (pork sausage), morcilla (blood sausage), vacio (flank steak), bife ancho (ribeye steak or prime rib), fries, and a salad to try and keep things healthy. Of course, we had to pair the meal with the house wine.
