The Wimshurst Influence Machine was designed by British engineer and inventor James Wimshurst between 1830 and 1833.
By means of contra-rotating discs with radial metal sectors on their surfaces, the machine generates electrostatic energy which discharges as a high-voltage spark across two terminals.
