The Audiophiliac ponders the sound of hi-fis past, and how their sound affected the way music was recorded, mixed and mastered to playback gear in those eras.

In other words, they weren't making music to sound good in the future, they were crafting it to sound good within the playback limitations of their time.

That's still true in 2019, the engineers have to realize most listening takes place over cheap Bluetooth speakers, crap ear buds in in cars, trains, planes and other noisy environments. Sadly, not for audiophiles!
