The video begins just east of Jackson, CA on route 88 in the Central California foothills (Ecoregion 6), then transitions into the Sierra Nevada (Ecoregion 5). The drive proceeds through the Northern Sierran Foothills (6b), the Central Sierra Lower Montane forests (5h), and the Mid-Montane forests (5g) of Amador County. Elevation increases from about 1800ft to 4600ft.

I find the dramatic change in vegetation, temperature, and geology fascinating. I find California is especially interesting due to its amazing diversity of landforms, climate, and vegetation across relatively short distances.
