THE STORY OF HANNAH: WHO WAS HANNAH IN THE BIBLE?

Hannah is a prominent figure in the Bible, best known as the mother of the prophet Samuel. Her inspiring story is told in the early chapters of the book of First Samuel in the Old Testament.

Hannah was married to Elkanah, a Levite who lived in Ramah, in the territory of the Tribe of Ephraim. She endured great suffering because she was barren, while Elkanah's other wife, Peninnah, had many children and often provoked her about her infertility.

Despite her affliction, Hannah was extremely devoted and persistent in her prayers. In an act of deep faith, she made a vow to the Lord, promising that if she had a son, she would dedicate him entirely to the service of God. The Lord heard her sincere pleas, and Hannah gave birth to Samuel, who would become one of Israel’s greatest prophets.

In addition to being Samuel’s mother, Hannah is remembered for her unshakable faith and exemplary devotion. Her story is a powerful testimony of perseverance and trust in God, even in the midst of great trials and difficulties.
