No one is surprised by dogs in the city. They play with children, teach them daily routines and responsibility. For those who work, they're a stress reliever, and when they're old, they take away sad thoughts and loneliness. But when choosing a puppy, you need to think about whether it is suitable to keep in an apartment. Cynologists recommend the Cairn Terrier among the suitable breeds for this purpose.
The oldest and shortest species of the Scottish terrier family, known since the 16th century. At the withers grows to 33 cm, bred to hunt foxes and hares. "Cairn" translates from Scots as "pile of stones"-the dogs were first used to drive prey out of stone holes, as well as to catch rats that cause great damage to crops. The work in the rocks involved more risk than in other types of burrows, so the terriers for this purpose were selected particularly carefully. Agility, speed, flexibility and courage were taken into account. As a result of rigid selection, a separate breed was obtained, with unpretentiousness in food, extraordinary endurance, with colors almost imperceptible in the stone hills.
The head is small, but commensurate with the body. The eyes are spread out and somewhat recessed in the skull. Small pointed ears. Large teeth. Strong neck, straight muscular back, somewhat ribbed, strong forelegs larger than the hind legs. The tail is sticking upward and is covered with dense hair requiring care. The standard allows for a not too long coat with a shaggier head.
