The new BMW X5 facelift might not be as radically different as a generational change but it does come with some significant changes. The exterior design has changed and the SUV looks sharper than before. It even gets new adaptive LED headlamps with stylish DLRs. On the inside, the new X5 gets a connected island on the dashboard that houses a large 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. All the creature comforts one would expect from a vehicle in this class, are present in the X5.
We got a chance to drive the xDrive 40i M Sport variant of the X5 that comes with a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, petrol motor coupled with a mild-hybrid system. The engine is good for producing 381 hp and 520 Nm and comes mated to an 8-speed gearbox. All of this kit results in a price tag of Rs 1,06,40,000 (ex-showroom) but does the new update justify such a high premium? Time to find out!
