Here's a quick and easy recipe for Spicy Rice: Jhat pat Rice
Ingredients:
1 cup white rice
2 cups water
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions:
Rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs clear.
In a medium saucepan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
Add the rice to the saucepan and stir for 1-2 minutes until it begins to lightly toast.
Add the cumin powder, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the rice and stir for 30 seconds to combine.
Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil.
Reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid.
Cook the rice for 18-20 minutes or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
Once cooked, fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
You can adjust the amount of spices to your liking and add in some diced vegetables or protein for a more filling meal.
