This is a fine reproduction of the famous Ardabil Carpet.
The Famous Ardabil Persian Carpet is in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Apparently there were two identical carpets, in the 19th century the London carpet was reconstructed using sections from both. It now has measurements of 34 ft by 17 ft.
The other carpet is in the Los Angeles County Museum Of Art. Its size is smaller, 23ft by 13ft. This piece was made of the unused pieces from the London one. So both carpets are smaller than they were originally.
This carpet has a typical Tabriz design, if features one central medallion and smaller ornate designs around it. The central medallion and the shapes portray the design of Persian gardens, a common symbol of paradise. The design of the central medallion resembles that of the interior side of the dome of the Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque in Isfahan. It also has two sized lamp motifs surrounding the central medallion. The different sizes create a graphical perspective, when looked at from end of the side with the smaller lamp the two appear of the same size.
Historians and connoisseurs of Persian carpets argue that the lamps were just a representation of lamps found in mosques at the time.
Moreover, this carpet main field is decorated with seven borders, each decorated with ornate designs and motifs. The main field besides the central medallion and the lamps, has a floral pattern.
