Eight years is a long time to go without a redesign for the Cadillac XT5, especially in the competitive compact luxury SUV market. When a car reaches this stage in its life, it's simple to blame time for all of its flaws, but in this instance, a lot of the XT5's problems have existed from the start. Although this small SUV has a sleek exterior and a spacious cabin, its excessively rigid suspension and confusing interior layout prevent it from competing with the best vehicles in the class. The XT5's future is also unclear right now because we don't know if it will be discontinued or if the new model XT5 for the Chinese market will be available. Consequently, we recommend looking at the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, Genesis GV70, and new BMW X3, all of which are reasonably priced and offer more features for the money. The Porsche Macan is an excellent option for drivers that are more adventurous and have larger resources.
