Chagoi.
Hi it's Lee from the Japanese water gardens.
In this video I am going to tell you about the largest Koi in our pond.
Lots of visitors to the centre have questions about her. How big is she? How much does she weigh? Where did she come from? How much does she cost?
So let me answer some of the most common common questions everyone has about this very special Koi.
She is a Narita Blood line Chagoi. She was bred by Mr Narita from Nagoya in Japan.
Chagoi have a friendly nature, a big appetite and often grow very large. Chagoi have a calming influence on the other fish in the pond and can help to encourage feeding directly from the hand.
When she was imported into the UK 5 years ago she was a only 22 inches in length. She has spent several years in our off site stock pond growing on and developing. In march this year we moved her back into our pond.
So how big is she now? Well we measured her and she is 38 inches in length and I think she still has potential to grow a further 2 or 3 inches.
We calculated the amount of water displacement she generates to be 19.68ltrs and converted this into converted this into lbs. Allowing for a 10% margin for spillage our best guess at her weight is 39 lbs.
Yes she is for sale and we are expecting her to fetch around £4000 pounds.
So what is her name. Well that is down to you to decide. Make some suggestions in the comments below, hit the like button below and I will pick a winner when we reach 500 likes.
