This reality and what it means hit me deep a couple months ago when I learned through the lens of Paul writing to the Romans.

Did you know that in Roman culture, fathers could disown their biological child for a “better” heir and adopt a new son to inherit the family’s wealth and status? It’s true.

The original son would have to leave and the new, adopted son would be in - receiving full inheritance, a new name & a forever home. And the adopted son could NOT be UNadopted!

Paul says, “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.”

I believe more than ever that we need to know our Father. Like really know Him. I need to know more about Him every day. We also need mothers and fathers in the faith that will speak truth to the children of God and love & disciple them like the Father.

I pray the Lord reveals your adoption to you today, that you receive His love and cry out Abba Father!
