The most popular tourist attraction in the whole of Thailand. The Grand Palace is a stunningly beautiful royal complex in the heart of Bangkok.
The architecture of the Grand Palace is magnificent and iconic, with over
100 buildings within the 94.5-hectare grounds. The construction of the complex was completed in 1785.
If you are going to visit the palace I suggest that you head there early in the morning. Taking a river boat to Tha Chang Pier is a quick and cheap way to get there. The palace is only a few minutes walk from the pier.
The nearest MRT (metro train) station is Sanam Chai which is a 15-20 min walk.
There are plenty of places nearby to grab a bite to eat nearby, plus many shops and street vendors selling souvenirs.
Located near to the Palace is the Golden Reclining Buddha at Wat Phra Chetuphon (Wat Pho). I really recommend that you visit here.
Another place to visit is Wat Arun which is a short 5 minute ferry ride across the river. It is popular temple on the banks of the Chao Phraya River.
