Another nature made art technique that uses what is in abundance around is - Autumn Leaves, because today we embark on a journey together in making our own natural dyed leaf fabric! For this you can dye an already made garment or fabric that you want to make into your own clothes - which I have been doing! If you are excited to do this process, make the iron water first! The rest can easily be done in an afternoon, but the rust takes a bit of time to make but is super easy! I will share every bit of the process, from the supplies, to the technique and a few of my struggles and ideas along the way. I hope you enjoy it and if you do make it, please share it with me using the #artclasswithdeanna and tagging me! I am happy to give advice along the way as well.
Happy Making friends! See below for a breakdown of supplies.
Supplies:
A pot (for dying)
Heat Resistant Gloves
Natural fiber (linen or cotton) garment or fabric - washed!
An extra cloth
String or yarn
Container (to soak leaves)
PH Neutral soap
Autumn leaves
For the Iron Water
A handful of found scrap metal
1 part Vinegar
2 parts Water
Fill above supplies in a mason jar with lid & leave for 2 weeks to strengthen rust
