Tropical Storm Estelle finally died off earlier today after hanging on for a while in the Eastern Pacific, away from any land areas.
Off the coast of Central America, a broad area of disturbances are likely to compete for a center of circulation and the next tropical cyclone of the Pacific hurricane season, although where exactly and when remains unclear. In the long run, one or two cyclones are likely to form and pose a limited threat to the coast of Mexico.
In the Western Pacific, a low pressure system is travelling north-northwestwards past the northern Mariana Islands, but is not likely to gain tropical cyclone characteristics. Models suggest that later on in the forecast period, a tropical cyclone could form and threaten the coast of Japan next week.
In the Indian Ocean, a tropical cyclone could develop next week south of the equator, and is slowly gaining a marginal amount of model support.
