David Petraeus is the retired four-star Army general who served in the US military for nearly four decades. Petraeus became one of the best known US generals during the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan. Petraeus was the architect of the counterinsurgency doctrine and commanded the International Force in Afghanistan and Iraq. He is known as one of the most effective strategic thinkers in his generation. General Petraeus is now a partner in the global investment firm K.K.R. and chairman of the K.K.R. Global Institute.
