The Polerouter is one of the iconic watches from the 50s. Manufacturers like Universal Geneve tried to convince buyers rather with technical excellence than design. The Polerouter demonstrates this with it's name. It was developed for pilots on their way over the north pole. In 1954 an aircraft of the Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) did exactly that. It flew from Copenhagen to Los Angeles.
Decades later, Universal Geneve was forgotten, but then, by end of 2023 Breitling bought the brand with the plan of a relaunch that will take place in 2026.
Watch of the Week.
This is a series of brief review videos about recently introduced wrist watches. Every Monday I give you in about 4 minutes an overview about style, specs, price and availability of a new timepiece. From 100 Euros or US-Dollar up to 10,000, from Timex, Alpina and Longines to Rolex and Zenith.
It's not a commercial, so you will hear my independent and unbiased opinion.
If not stated otherwise product images in this video are under the copyright of Universal Geneve.
