Adapted into Georgian by the director himself, Zura Getszadze brings a skilful mockery on the modern society, a mirror to watch the communication drama which has been a major cry of European societies. With perfectly targeted mission he cherished expectations of audience and Tumanishvili Company: by delivering singular workouts for each character the director composed a very emotional and funny drama piece.
"It is often said that the Georgian theatre lacks young talented directors. But The Bald Soprano proves opposite. Now we are pinning our hopes as Zura Getsadze conquered this challenge"

All characters of the play can be seen as symbolic. Their endless, meaningless conversations and repetitive lines represent in many ways the absurdist view of human existence. Originally inspired by English primer, Ionesco deliberately messed up with so many nonsensical speech and disjointed associations that even adapted into the Georgian language and performed in a very native surrounding the show pulls off with enormous success for international audience as well.
Zura Getszadze's production lays exact emphasis on society we live in. It challenges audiences by letting them watch an embarrassing truth about their own selves. But only with a perfect touch of humour and the successful directorial achievement this biting satire of social convention has become one of the most engaging shows at Tumanishvili theatre.
"The Bald Soprano" is an authentic, overtly funny production. By watching acting of the characters one is happy with a truly successful performance. Yet the play had never been staged on Georgian scene.
