I wanted to find a way to make cloisonne or champleve jewelry using silver and resin, but I also wanted other resin artists to be able to easily make it too. So I started looking for ways to make silver designs in bezels and when that was difficult I started looking at silver clay. The depth of the recesses I wanted were really tricky to make using cutters and that whole process got messy quickly, so i tried making the recesses first and then cutting them out afterwards and that worked quite well, but not very repeatably. So i bit the bullet and made some molds. So much easier. Simply press the clay in, scrape it flat and leave it to dry and you have your perfect shape. Fire it, clean it burnish it and then you have something to color. UV resins are best as you don't need a lot of resin to fill these. And yeah, they turned out great!
