Make tasty Kakiage - they're a great snack on their own, or put them together with some Udon noodles as part of a full meal.
Tempura (Kakiage)
Small onion 1 (It was about 90g in the video)
Carrot 1 (It was about 55g in the video)
Plain flour 5 table spoons
Corn starch 1 table spoon
Cold water 60mL
Oil To fry*
*I used a small frying pan to fry the tempura. You don’t need a lot of oil, just about 3 cm in depth. It is between deep fry and shallow fry.
Tempura Sauce
Soy sauce ½ table spoon
Sugar ¼ tea spoon*
Dashi powder 1 pinch (1g)
Water 2 table spoons
*You can replace sugar with ½ table spoon of Mirin. Mirin is a sweet rice wine, similar to Sake. It contains small amount of alcohol, so needs to be cooked before you eat. (It is slightly bitter, if you don’t cook it) In this recipe, you will cook it in microwave oven for 30 seconds in high heat.
