This talk is focused on sacred ecology of the Himalayas--this sacredness is our civilizational cognition, a part of our civilizational DNA, Venus calls it civilizational pedigree.
Venus grew up with a deep connection with mountains, rivers, lakes and springs, not just because they were around her but because her culture had personalized them into subjects of worship, prayer, cultural empathy and ecological morality. These sound like big words but each of these can be actually proven through the stories she wishes to share from her and the wider Himalayan region.
Today's ecological degradation is not just because of melting glaciers and polluted rivers, it's because somewhere our ecological morality is lost.

Venus Upadhayaya is a Senior Reporter, India and South Asia for the NY based Epoch Times. She's originally from the Shivalik hills of Jammu, a Dogra by ethnicity.
