US officials have confirmed that they will sit down for talks with the Taliban in Qatar, within days. The group has opened an office here in Doha and says it's ready to discuss peace. The US government is warning that the negotiations will be slow and difficult - with no guarantee of success. Al Jazeera's Patty Culhane reports from Washington.
