This is a General Electric "Thomson" Form-7 enclosed carbon arc series street lamp for AC 6.6 amp circuits. It was produced around 1905 and has been restored to full operable condition. Over 3/4 of a million of these once ubiquitous urban electric street lamps were in service during the first decade of the 20th century. All of them were removed from service and scrapped by 1920. It can operate for about 110 hours on a set of 1/2" diameter carbons.
