❓ What would happen if countries had a different size than we think? ✅

Transforming a 3D map (the globe) into a 2D planisphere (a map) creates distortions that prevent the existence of a perfect map. Some preserve distances, others shapes (angles), and others surfaces.
The most commonly used projection worldwide is the Mercator projection, which preserves shapes and is also used in Google Maps. However, this leads us to errors when thinking about the size of countries.
There are countries that are not as large as we think (those in the north), and conversely, there are countries that surprise us by being so large (those around the equator).
