MOUNT Etna has ERUPTED again, spewing red hot lava and sending plumes of charcoal black smoke up over Sicily, Italy.
Clouds of smoke some five miles high rose from a southeast crater of Italy's volcano Mount Etna on Thursday evening (February 10) following a brief eruption.
Red lava flowed from the crater some 2,900 metres above sea level, but geologists in the area said activity had seized by the evening.
The nearby Catania airport was not disrupted by falling ash.
Mount Etna on the Italian island of Sicily, is Europe's most active.
