Amazon is set to open its Cambridge fulfilment centre on Sept. 29.
In a news release issued Friday, the company said its newest such centre, called YHM2, will launch with more than 250 people employed at the facility.
Frontline employee hiring began Friday; at nearly one million square feet in size, the centre has the capacity for more than 1,000 workers.
The massive building, located on Old Mill Road near Fountain Street South and Highway 401, is where products will be stored, managed and distributed to regional Amazon robotics fulfilment centres, the release said.
