This is the first in a series of videos which explain what small and mid-sized family-owned organizations, such as farmers, food processors and manufacturers, packers, and distributors need to know and do to comply with the Food Safety Modernization Act, the so-called FSMA.
This includes the latest updates to the FDA regulations, including the so-called Rule 204, which requires that all participants in the food supply chain that harvest, process, or distribute foods on the FDA's critical foods list, such as fruits and vegetables, exchange materials traceability data with their supply-chain trading partners.
In this first video, we give an introduction to the FDA's requirements and some of the challenges these present for smaller organizations.
In subsequent videos, we will examine why compliance is important and who needs to comply. These will be followed by an explanation of FMSA barcode and data exchange standards as well as how to comply with these without needing an army of support people.
