Alyson Dougherty grew up in Barnegat, New Jersey on the bayside of Long Beach Island. It's where she made her first friends, first swam in the ocean, worked her first job, and where she found her passion for environmental sustainability. "I think I speak for everyone who lives on the island when I say that Hurricane Sandy was a wake-up call," she says.
