Important notes (00:28)
Wear proper PPE: safety glasses, protective gloves, respirator and whatever else you need for the job. This video is intended for a professional setting such as a body shop or paint shop. Make sure to check OEM recommendations to confirm you’re using the correct adhesive for the job.
What are Pig Tails? (01:04)
They typically occur typically when your abrasive disc is nearing the end of its life or if there is dirt on the surface of the panel you are refining.
What to do when they occur (01:37)
Clean the surface, and potentially replace the disc.
Removing the Pig Tails (02:05)
Grab a fresh 2000 grit abrasive disc and refine the area.
Continue to Refine the Panel (02:18)
Important note:
There are of course many factors and variables that can affect an individual repair, so the technician and repair facility need to evaluate each specific application and repair process, including relevant vehicle, part and OEM guidelines, and determine what is appropriate for that repair.
