Indian media reported that at the beginning of November 2020, India has successfully test-fired the Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) system off the coast of Balasore in Odisha.

The QRSAM system was developed by DRDO of India to replace the weapons systems developed in the Soviet era. According to the plan, QRSAM will be officially put into operation in 2021.

QRSAM is a compact weapon system and is mobile. It has a fully automated Command and Control System. The missile system comprises two four-walled radars both of which encompass a 360-degree coverage, namely, the Active Array Battery Surveillance Radar and the Active Array Battery Multifunction Radar, apart from the launcher.

QRSAM's opponent is likely to be Pakistan's Babur cruise missile. Although Babur is considered a smart weapon, the Indian side confirmed that this missile is completely in the QRSAM's interception capabilities.
