Today I walk along Kuta beach, Lombok, haggling with locals. I meet two women up the very end of the beach who don’t get much business and buy a coffee and some water from them then chat about their lives.
I meet a Russian guy and his girlfriend sitting on the beach and he tells me of his recent accident with a local woman that saw him come off his scooter taking skin off his knee, arms, and elbow - he hasn’t been able to get around for a week. He also tells me the cost of such an accident for foreigners.
I also give a basic outline of my costs staying in Lombok and what you can expect to pay on a low travel budget which includes room, food, scooter as well as other bits and pieces.
